This lecture and predominantly practical based course will discuss and apply the use of pins and wires for the management of appropriate fractures. The stifle joint is one of the most commonly treated joints in the dog. A successful surgery on this joint is reliant upon understanding and correct application of surgical techniques. This course is aimed at those delegates who have a basic general level of competence in surgery but who wish to develop their orthopaedic skills. Lectures will be followed by practical wet labs where the delegates will cover a variety of surgical procedures including:
* Lateral parapatellar approach to the stifle
* Surgical treatment of a medially luxating patella
* Lateral tibiofabellar suture for the treatment of cranial cruciate ligament disease.
